Matau Records Vinyl Tune of the Day "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones.
"Gimme Shelter" appeared as the first track of The Rolling Stones vinyl LP "Let It Bleed". Initially entitled "Gimmie Shelter" subsequent vinyl releases renamed the song to "Gimme Shelter". This was not the only spelling error with the female vocalist on the vinyl LP listed as Mary Clayton rarther than Merry Clayton.
"Gimme Shelter" was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and features themes inspired by the Vietnam War. The album "Let It Bleed" was released in 1969 on Decca and London Records.
Let It Bleed was the eighth British and tenth American vinyl album released by the Rolling Stones and was the last album by the band to feature Brian Jones as well as the first to feature Mick Taylor. The album was the bands last vinyl LP to be released in an official mono version and is a rare and highly sought after vinyl LP.
