Matau Records Vinyl Record of the Day - "Fisherman" by the Congos

Fisherman was released as a 7" vinyl single in 1977 and is the title track from The Congos debut LP "Heart of the Congos" released on vinyl on the Black Ark record label in 1977.  The record was produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry at his Black Ark studio and is regarded as being one of the finest reggae albiums of the period all priduced by Lee Perry and refereed to as the "the holy trinty" together with "War Ina Babylon" and "Police and Thieves".
 

The Congos is a reggae group from Jamaica which formed as the duo "Ashanti" Roy Johnson and Cedric Myton, who were later joined by  a trio Watty Burnett. They released their first records in the late 70's produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry and have continued to release new material right up until 2012.
